Cycling in the Alps

I did not care that Davos (Switzerland) was the highest city in Europe.

I mean it’s July for f*#k sake what could go wrong.

Turns out a lot.

Rain, snow, freezing weather and that’s just my hotel room ⛷ .

For the last week I’ve been in Florence and Tuscany with 90 degree temperatures and a pool.

This morning I begin a three day ride (200 or so miles) up Fluella Pass and Stelvia and I have to worry about ice and snow not just my damn conditioning and legs.

Michael Kinsbergen a good friend from Amsterdam arranges an annual three day cycling trip for his pals that can ride and this year he invited me.

I’ve trained pretty hard but still have no idea what to expect. I’ve not ridden mountains like these or in weather like today.

I am definitely more nervous than excited and hope to follow up with some good news from the other side of the first pass tonight.

Good thoughts….
