Thank Goodness For The Internet …And Markets

I love being at home with Rachel and Ellen.

I am not sure how I would feel without the internet.

I am sure we would read more books, play more board games or do some ‘paint by numbers’ to kill the time, but there is no way I could do my work and keep my cool without the internet.

The internet makes work, communication and entertainment effortless. We already knew it was commerce nirvana.

It has helped keep the peace not just in our home, but likely the country and world.

The internet has turned the global markets into the world’s ‘national pastime’. We have no sports, just the prices of assets.

The government seems to be the only entity that does not know how to use the internet to work and communicate. This pandemic will make or break their proper onboarding.

Because the internet is undefeated I am hopeful even the government will listen just enough to figure things out.

My friend Anish at A16z pointed the the government has a distribution problem and we are seeing that with PPP loans, but again I am hopeful that the internet will rise to the occasion.

One of his partners Alex Rampell tweeted that the government ‘does’ have an agency to remit money at scale – it is called the IRS.

So thanks to the healthcare workers on the frontline and the ‘toner’ guy supplying all the ink to the FED and also to the internet.

And before you panic about the internet going down, read this great MIT technology review article titled ‘Why the coronavirus lockdown is making the internet stronger than ever.’

Have a great weekend.
