I was in Dallas yesterday because I had a chance to sit with Mark Cuban and discuss trends, stocks, and start-ups. I was actually prepared, expecting to get 20 minutes or so, but was thrown off by Mark giving me a couple hours with the cameras rolling. Jon Labes and I had a blast and learned a lot. Mark knew from just a little social media checking what type of interview this would be and a little about me which made the conversation funny and comfortable from the moment he walked in.
Mark loves the stock market but we have some very different style and strategy thoughts around it. We also get a thrill from talking to as many entrepreneurs as possible. Mark is in a much more unique situation being he can fund deals himself. But, there are two areas we agree about:
1. Start a business and invest in yourself (If that’s a business around trading, than find the best mentors and invest in learning the trade and how toi build a business around it).
2. Hustle. Hustle. Hustle.
In real estate, location, location, location is important, but even so, markets go bad and the survivors out hustle the weak and lost. Paradise Valley is the best location in Greater Phoenix for land prices, but only the best are moving properties at reasonable prices. By best I mean people promoting, marketing, shmoozing, doing whatever it takes to find buyers.
Looking forward to running the interview in a few weeks but we wanted to edit it and reorganize as the riffs were going in many directions.
In the meantime, along the same lines, Jon Labes has edited up and delivered a series of interviews I did with some authors of ‘Do More Faster’. We think this is great for any entreprenuer to watch.
Have a great one.
cant wait for this interview. am interested to see how cuban addresses trading, specifically the strategies that most on stocktwits implement (day and swing trading strategies). i know he is not a fan of active traders and was a big proponent of implementing transaction taxes on trades. really hoping this is addressed in the interview!
he has nothing new to say. My interviews are never to argue they are to probe for trends and big picture thinking from people in a position to invest big picture and have fun.
of course mark has plenty of new stuff to say because I asked him anout stuff I care about :)
cant wait to see this. its like entourage with (a little) less nudity.
ha. there is a little nudity.
1.We all know, A good web copywriter-in-print that makes people grabbing reader by the eyeballs and not letting him go until he is persuaded to grab his wallet and beg you to rush him your product. And that’s what this site is providing. It’s really helpful. sales letter
this interview will be great. i wonder if he talks about how goldman set up a hedge fund based on his picks back in the day.
Looking forward to seeing it. I hope Cuban wasn’t restrained by his dustup with the SEC.
the SEC…please.
