I’m In….And No Way!

Before I get started….this guy is NOT Jewish.

Onwards…

I am back in the USA.

I tweeted same and some of the responses were hilarious.

The funniest/sarcastic advice with my green card plight came from my friend Peter who told me to fly to Mexico and just walk across the border.

Yesterday I was supposed to be in New York for a couple of board meetings but I Zoom’d them and all went well.

I was lucky to be headed to Toronto when I noticed my green card was lost because I have a deep network of friends. I was headed to Toronto to speak at a few banks and my friend Lowell Kamin who organized it gave me the phone number of a top immigration lawyer (Steven Green) in Toronto. I immediately called while on my way to Heathrow and they outlined the steps I needed to take and of course – the cost.

They recommended that even though they would file for a replacement card that I should drive to Buffalo (two hours) and cross the border by car. I just followed the advice and Lowell offered to drive me so off we went. Sure enough, I was stopped at the border because the customs officer was doing his job. He asked where I live and I answered Phoenix and noticing my Canadian passport asked for my green card. I could have lied and said I lived in Toronto and probably crossed without an issue, but I did not want to lie at the border.

Inside was definitely stressful as they have the power to send me back, but after a little bit of grilling, mostly about why I have never gotten a US passport, with my paperwork perfectly prepared, the customs agent stamped the replacement papers and Lowell and I were through to America!

This morning I am off to meet Ellen and some friends in Tahoe as I slowly make my way back to Coronado for the rest of the summer.

Finally…

I have been down the Federer rabbit hole the last few weeks on YouTube and last night I was served up a video of some shots he hit where the Australian announcers yell ‘No Way

Elsewhere in ‘No Way’ land:

Facebook has paid $5.1 billion in fines and is back at all-time highs.

The Nasdaq and S&P and Semiconductors are at all-time highs.

WeWork is going public with billions in losses after the founder took $700 million off the table

With a straight face, Mnuchin is out on behalf of the ‘Republicans’ saying Amazon killed retail. Meanwhile Target and LULU are at all-time highs. As a true Republican Gordon Gekko would say…retail was wreckable.

Have a great day.
