I have waited a week to see if anyone would post something interesting about the iPhone. Something that would make you money. They have not. Here is what you need to know about the iPhone:
IT’S THE RETAIL STUPID
Apple is the best retailer in the country. It is like walking into a candy store.
The iPhone is a traffic driver at worst, a home run at best. At worst, people flock to the stores throughout the second half of 2006 and christmas to eye the sucker, play with it and BUY APPLE PRODUCTS. Worst case, the free world delays iPod purchases for six months, than passes on the phone and buys a 1gazillion gigahertz byte iPod widescreen loaded with iPorn.
At best…OY!
That is the story.
Buy dips…you will get them.
UPDATE – Quarterly numbesr are out. The noise will be deafening. What you will NOT READ in the article long CBS report is ANY mention of retail store growth and how Apple perfectly executes their plan. That’s goooood if you are a long-term holder.

Is the Apple phone going to be available in Apple stores or just in Cingular stores? If in Apple stores–they have Cingular reps/plan access in the Apple store? Could hurt the “minimalist” feel?
Got the Wife a blackberry tonight in Cingular store and rep told me that management is not too pumped about the apple phone because it’s not 3G, it’s $500 AFTER contract discount, and it’s June. Who knows, but at least you are proud of me for pumping for info huh?
