Mallorca – I’ll Be Back

I have had an incredible week of riding here with friends in Mallorca. I have long heard about the cycling culture here in Mallorca but you have to see it to believe it. I now know. It is wonderful.

Today is the sixth in a row of cycling and our guide/host Filippo saved the best for last – the Sa Colbra climb .

Yesterday we rode in the mountains near Palma. We started at the Rapha store in Palma and met Miguel Indurain Jr. who is the sone of Miguel Indurain a hero and legend in Spain for winning FIVE Tour De France races in the 90’s.

Miguel is 26 and one hell of a rider himself of course, but also works for Rapha here in Spain. He was a delightful host and ride leader. No he is not into crypto, but his younger brother is!

On one of the climbs, I clipped the wheel of my friend Mark who was passing me and had my first crash in decades. Luckily just some cuts and bruises and a small bit of road rash. Miguel was right there to get me off the road.

Here we are at the start of the climb…

And here near the top…

A couple more of my favorite photos…here with Roy Rubin who is fit enough to climb, explain the future of ecommerce and film all at once…

Here sitting with my pals Mark Friedman and Michael Kinsbergen at the top of one of our climbs…

It feels good to be fit for riding and climbing and to have the free time to think all these days on the bike.

Because of email and smart phones I am never really ‘off the grid’ or on vacation, but I think that is a feature not a bug of the good life in 2022.

PS –

One of the extra fun and special things about my years of sharing ideas on Twitter and my blog is that I have friends around the world. This Twitter exchange from a reader is why I keep doing what I do. I look forward to meeting Valeriy, who is into markets and finance and crypto and cycling at some point later today or tomorrow…
