Merry Christmas and Some Resolutions

Merry Christmas everyone.

I don’t usually participate in the spirit of Christmas, but yesterday I took gifts to give to the nurses and orderlies at the hospital that took care of me for two weeks. It was nice to see them and catch up on my progress, but I was surprised how few of the faces I actually remembered (the pain and drugs). Luckily they all remembered me.

One mentioned ‘you look so much better in clothes’.

It’s already day four of Hanukkah (the miracle of lights). Ellen had 40 family members and friends over at the house on Sunday which was great. Today it is the iPhone that provides the miracle of light with the easy to access flashlight.

Jews on Christmas eve head to the movies and we chose ‘Uncut Gems’ with Adam Sandler. It was a wild ride of a movie. We liked it.

I have so much time on my hands right now as I recover and I have been thinking a lot about 2020 and a few resolutions.

I have forever talked about weight and fitness, but after losing now 25+ pounds in a month based completely on diet, I am convinced I need a better plan for my diet and fitness once I return to full health. I am reading up on the subject but my big goal is to put on some muscle and keep my weight below 180. My diet is due for big changes in 2020.

Next up, I have needed glasses the last few years but just keep getting larger screens, and jacking the brightness and fonts.

That strategy has only made my eyes worse. I plan on fixing that ASAP.

I am going to be much pickier about my travel in 2020. I am using as much time early in 2020 to heal my body and am not putting a timeline on it.

Of course, a key resolution for me is to continue to write here everyday. This year I missed 20 days and I think I can reverse that completely in 2020.

I remember pulling open my laptop during my dark days in the hospital and just not being strong enough or clear headed enough to scratch out a sentence.

I am grateful to be back at it everyday even if I am not quite at full strength.
