I am excited to see my sister Robyn today because it has been over a year. She moved down to Florida from Toronto with her husband Jeff years ago.

I was in Florida a few years back in Naples to fish and golf, but it has been at least 20 years since I have been to Miami.

I have all the good weather I need back in Phoenix and San Diego and Miami has not been on my radar for startups.

This week I came to meet my friends Joe Sticco and Preston Van Loon. They have an incredibly cool project they are launching shortly and they invited me to meet the mayor and listen in on a chat with Vitalik Buteran who was zooming in. Listening to the mayor and Preston and Vitalik chat about Ethereum was a treat. I will share some notes and the podcast at a later date. Sneak peek of the chat here:

The mayor has a big social media following, especially amongst the San Francisco geeks who all seem to be here for the taxes …I mean weather.

They offered me up some cuban coffee which led to this tweet and a lot of twitching by me for the next hour…

Note to self…Cuban coffee is my new fave coffee.

For dinner I met up with my friend Peter Yared (he has recently moved to Miami from San Francisco) in downtown Miami, which I loved and than caught up for a late night drink at Carbone South Beach with Peter and my friend Joe Marchese who happens to be be visiting from New York and saw I was here…

Of course I had the rigatoni as well…and that is our Tequila brand Komos that Joe helped start in the photo.

I will definitely come back to Miami but would stay downtown in one of the many cool districts.
