Shoe Dog

We spent the day in Zurich yesterday on the lake. I stopped in at a beautiful cigar bar and spent a few hours ripping through Phil Knight’s memoir ‘Shoe Dog’.

Nike has always been one of my favorite companies and I learned a lot about the long early days.

Every entrepreneur should read the book.

It really is amazing how Phil persisted through the 1960’s in the first decade building the company.  I can’t imagine too many founders starting today in technology that would put up with the grind Phil and his team endured.

The pace of business today is mind boggling compared to the early 1960’s when as Phil notes 90 percent of Americans had not yet flown.

Which reminds me that Verizon sucks all things considered.
