Stocktwits Introduces Social Stock Charting with Chart.ly

About three weeks ago, Tim Sykes came to visit at my office and was bugging me to get a chart sharing site launched for Stocktwits . I loved the idea, but told him that Soren was buried in development for the site. Tim, who never quits, than introduced me to his talented partner Adarsh Pallian who would just get it done for us. Tim was right and Adarsh coded and designed the sight very quickly. On Friday we launched Chart.ly with the Stocktwits community in mind .

Until Chart.ly, if you went to a charting website you would get one look at the chart. With Chart.ly you can already get multiple views and opinions on the same chart.

Take a look at all the different ways S&P index is being charted and discussed .

I believe that Stocktwits is the ‘Human Ticker’ adding much needed context to the useless ticker that we see running on all the financial networks. I believe that Chart.ly will change the way investors digest stock charts, adding context to the ideas being exchanged on Stocktwits.

Tim has a really good blog post on Chart.ly and the future of ‘technical analysis’. My fave line:

… no matter what’s going on in the markets, no matter who says what or what company does well or not well, stock charts tell stories.

The stock market is an opportunity machine. Stocktwits is an idea and opportunity platform. Chart.ly will just leverage this platform further.

Sure there are naysayers, but that’s what makes markets.
