Twitter Following SPAM…An explanation

I am in some insanely dumb argument with TradingGoddess over what constitutes Twitter Spam.

Here is what I believe to be TRUE:

If you are pursuing a following scam where you quickly FOLLOW people in order to get them to follow you back…you are a spammer. See Jason Calacanis and Trading Goddess. I don’t give a rat’s ass if you keep following 19,000, 50,000 or 100,000 people because you believe you are Jesus and can heal Twitter pain, you are a spammer and not using twitter in the way it was intended to be used.

If you GET Followed by 1, 100 or 100,000 people because you are good, get linked to by Shaq, Twitter, Jesus or if you are lucky…ME, you are NOT a Spammer. You have either gotten lucky or are just damn good.

There are exceptions. One exception is Stocktwits. If people follow StockTwits, we must follow them back in order for it to work. WE DO NOT EVER randomly follow people from the Stocktwits twitter feed. There is no point to that.

Happy to have a debate here so please prove me wrong.
