Apple is a Store – OWNED by Smart People – WITH RULES

I don’t own $aapl the stock for the moment, but my kids do.

There is a new brouhaha about the store rejecting certain apps. Thank Goodness.

Maybe because I don’t think I will ever need them. Maybe because I am glad Apple has some rules for their store. Stocktwits has some ‘House Rules’ as well .

Apple is not owned by the government. Stop with the First Amendment nonsense. From this ban, it seems they don’t want apps that really do nothing .

I heard of a consortium set up by Verizon, T, Microsoft and your Mumma, started in Spain this week, that will compete with Apple. Go support them. They will support boobies. Go back to using your Nokia and StarTec.

Better yet, just wait for your Droid phone and that ‘open’ flesh accepting borg called Google.

Or, get a job, because there are plenty of people ahead of you in line with who will kick your ass while you are whining about this .

This conversation is nonsense and I hope you have a great day talking about anything but this.

    Agreed. Their house, their rules. Not that I have a dog in that hunt though, as I don’t have an iPhone.

    I did like this, from your StockTwits rules though:

    “The one exception of course is if your tweet is really funny. You can get away with a well placed expletive if the tweet is hilarious.”

    That’s a great exception.

    It’s not about rules, it’s about transparent and consistent rules. StockTwits is different because, though I’m sure the rules evolve, they’ve always been transparent and consistent. No Penny Stocks – except when all of the financials turned into Penny stocks. That makes sense.

    However, No Porn. OK – Yes Porn is good. On Second though, no more porn after we told you it was OK. Is just not good business. Why is it just so hard to post a set of rules that your app needs to live by so it’s not chatroulette when you submit it?

        I think that this is really an issue about the 4Chan image app and other similar apps and they don’t want to police it, so they are banning ‘sex’ from all apps that don’t come from a ‘known entity’. It’s heavy-handed and smacks of a double-standard though. They should have kicked out SI and Playboy as well and just closed the gate. But what can you do? Power corrupts.

        You are right Malcolm. At times, Apple drives me nuts. It started when Steve Jobs said People don’t read anymore while discussing Kindle. Well plenty of people are reading for Apple to be interested in building an ebook store. Then I lost all my ipod libraries…arghhh. Then my friend told me about having to go to the Genius at the Genius bar to get her Iphone fix. Genius? must be kidding right? How arrogant? Then I bought an Itouch for my son and when I received it I had to pay $6 for an upgrade.

        The Apple Koolaid is flowing aplenty and people are drinking it and they have lost their sense of criticism for that company.

        My Rant Is Over.
