Caterpillar (CAT) on Wallstrip

Sorry Andrew , we tried getting Lindsay on the real thing.

If you look at what the Company has expanded into , what really is CAT’s real thing.

Here is the Google Finance start page with related companies and financials.

Most interesting this I learned looking at Caterpillar ffrom my show research is their growth into Financial Products:

Financial Products

Cat Financial, a wholly owned finance subsidiary of Caterpillar, provides retail financing alternatives for Caterpillar products to customers and Caterpillar dealers around the world. Such retail financing primarily comprises financing of Caterpillar equipment, machinery and engines. In addition, Cat Financial also provides financing for vehicles, power generation facilities and marine vessels. In addition to retail financing, Cat Financial provides wholesale financing to Caterpillar dealers and purchases short-term dealer receivables from Caterpillar. Cat Financial also extends loans to customers and dealers. A significant portion of Cat Financial’s activities is conducted in North America. However, Cat Financial has additional offices and subsidiaries in Asia, Australia, Europe and Latin America.

Cat Insurance provides various forms of insurance to customers and dealers to help support the purchase and lease of the Company’s equipment. Its wholly owned subsidiaries include Caterpillar Insurance Company, which has the license to conduct property and casualty insurance business in 49 states and the District of Columbia; Caterpillar Insurance Co. Ltd., which is a captive insurance company, and Caterpillar Product Services Corporation, which is a warranty company. Caterpillar Life Insurance Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Caterpillar, is licensed to conduct life and accident and health insurance business in 24 states and the District of Columbia.

Cat Power Ventures, a wholly owned subsidiary of Caterpillar, primarily invested equity and took ownership interests in power generation projects throughout the world that utilize Caterpillar power generation equipment. In some cases, these projects also utilize construction and operations, and maintenance services that are provided by other Caterpillar subsidiaries. Cat Power Ventures has investments in power projects in Poland, the Dominican Republic and Tunisia, and has created direct and indirect subsidiaries and affiliates to hold these investments.

They have smartly leveraged their own growth and compete in the financial space with the likes of Citibank and General Electric. Obviously this has been good.

The question is, do these forays for the capital goods maker, unwind things quicker in a downward spiral. I imagine only time will tell.

For now, I have learned that this cycle has made many capital goods makers GREAT GROWTH STOCKS. I had been taught that companies like Caterpillar were cyclical in nature. Too much old school thinking has kept me on the sidelines through many great entry points in the stock.

Take a look for yourself. The Company and stock are definitely Wallstrip worthy and the stock may be for you.

Disclosure – No Positions but adding to my watchlist

It’s too bad Cat denied you just because you’re, ummm, light-hearted. Really makes us (Cat) look pretentious.

What a great win for Cat PR! :rolls eyes:
