Credit…The Biggest Drug Problem in America!

Today, Blair mentioned to me this tasty nugget about Capital One Financial …ho hum! :)

Capital One Financial (COF)…Is it worth Hating a Stock?

I hate this company. I hate our administration as much for this Company as I do for all their general neglect and indifference to the greater good. There are things our government can do (I think NEED to do) to save people from themselves, but obviously we just like to see people blow up.

In my old days, I would short this stock based on my hatred and I printed losses. What was the point. The one thing I refused to do and will always do with this greaseball company, is join them.

Listen, they run a racket, they are the house gone wild. They sell the one drug America will never kick…easy credit. It’s cyclical and this cycle will bring major withdrawl, but it will be back. I want credit, we need credit, but some people should not be allowed to GIVE IT.

That’s what this post is about. Getting credit is a priviledge…fine. BUT, GIVING IT SHOULD BE A PRIVILEDGE AS WELL IF NOT MORE SO.

Where the f@#ck are our leaders?

That as usual is rhetorical. Weasels.

Some freaking jail time is needed for some of these leaders. The abuse is downright disgusting and obvious.

Here is Trader Mike’s great post about the pricks running Countrywide as well . How hard is it to trace these steps. Trust me, it’s easier than Enron and way bigger.

The one thing I remember about Capital One is that they increased the limit on my Student Visa to $10,000 when I was a sophomore at college, after I was with them for 2 years. My original limit was $1,000 and I never even spent that much. Anyways, I thought only an idiot would give a 20 year old with no credit history this much credit so I promptly called and canceled my card. Went through the rest of school using my Visa check-card, and never had to worry about a thing (until I needed to finance my motorcycle and realized I still had no credit history).

I would love to see a post explaining what Constitutional actions the President should have taken to keep people from taking out loans that they couldn’t afford.

    Greater good?

    *Unemployment rate: 4.5%

*Stock Market within 7% of ALL TIME highs

*GDP growth in 4%+ range with tame inflation

*Federal Tax revenues at ALL TIME HIGHS

*A quickly rising national “poverty line” that has over 50% of the “poor” with air conditioning and cable TV

*Life expectancy rates at ALL TIME HIGHS as medical technology begins making amazing leaps that will continue for decades in THIS COUNTRY as all others piggyback on the R&D and profit incentives of the “greedy pharma” companies

All-in-all, the “greater good” seems to be served incredibly well by this mostly inept administration. How? By lowering taxes and GETTING OUT OF THE WAY of the markets.

Equal opportunity is the ultimate goal, not equal results.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go loan someone money that they need on Prosper at 19%…without the President’s approval. :)

    Andy just pawned you, hard.

    Credit Cards are cool.

I’m going to make it a point to acquire as many lines of credit possible, spend it all, then return to my home planet– with all the neat stuff (plasma’s, ipods, iphones,blu-ray’s, etc) I accumulated.

  4. andy – your response is better than my post except you miss my point.

Soem people do need saving. They just cant hack it and though I brought up politics and opened a pandora’s biox with you, does not change the fact that this was an abuse and was very avoidable.

Hopefully, like sarbanes, something good comes of it.

It is sarbanes thats the reason we have come back this far this fast and the will of the great country despite the thieves.

Contrary to popular belief, I am no fan of this administration. That said, I will ALWAYS defend the right of anyone in the Federal Government to stay OUT OF MY LIFE and OUT OF THE MARKETS that have helped make this Country the best the world has ever known. :)

Agreed on hating capital one….especially for the junk mail.

Can’t stand them either. They bought one of the oldest banks down here and fucked up everything. Even put an ugly glowing capitol one logo on top of one of the tallest buildings in downtown.
