Firing Up My Kindle…

I have been staring at the Amazon box for about a week. Inside sits my daughter’s Kindle.

I am not a big reader, nevertheless, it says something about the product and category that I just did not want to rip it open and fire it up.

This ain’t no iPod.

It’s time though. Tonight I will fire it up. I am excited to get Rachel using it. Max won’t care unless there are games and comics.

I have been working on a book now for the last 6 months and it’s done. I am firing it off to the editors tonight in New York. It has been grueling. My wife and kids are more excited than me, maybe because they have sacrificed the most as usual. I don’t have a title, but I am confident that this community will help create one and a book design.

In finishing some of the research, most came from blogs – actually the people on my blogroll, I was reminded how much a few great books meant to me. I needed the Kindle in hindsight as half of my favorite investment books have been misplaced. ‘A Zebra in Lion Country’ being one of my fave of faves. Read it.

With the smart and cheap purchase of Audible.com today, Amazon has declared that they want to own the book vertical. It may not be sexy, but it is significant.

My hedge is off as of the open today, I bought more stock and am using $65, last nights post market lows as my line in the sand. I am trusting that Bezo’s continues to get it done, despite the shitty market and mood.

Time will tell.

PS – BIG BIG BIG sports weekend for Phoenix. Superbowl which I am attending, Superbowl parties – which I am crashing, Sun/Spurs tonight national TV I will be there, and Phoenix Open – too crowded and too many guys look the exact same – so pass.

  1. Fire up the Kindle, Howard…love to hear what you think…

I’m finding I use it more than my iPod on my travels. Still a Thriller product in my book (no pun intended), despite it’s many version 1.0 faults.

Congrats on the book! I will definitely purchase one. Is it more autobiographical type of book or do you just express your general position towards investing?
As a title, I would suggest “New Highs”.

Put me down for an amazon pre-sale too!

I’ve only been reading your blog, since October, but some ideas from some of the themes I’ve picked up:

    1. “All Trends End”
    2. “…[But] That’s Bullish”
    3. “Find Them, Ride Them [And get off]”
    4. “Higher Highs” (I also like “New Highs”)
    5. “Stripping on Wallstreet – A New High” you’re welcome) Can’t wait.

Disclosure – Long LDZN, no position in AMZN :P
