Rachel Sklar and I go waaaaaaay back. Toronto back. I was close with their family. So far back though she did not really remember me when I showed up at Huffington Post for some pizza a few years back. She ignored me and live blogged.
At the moment, Rachel is bringing attention to ‘Change The Ratio’ an effort to raise awareness and bring more women into leadership roles in at least tech and web.
While I want to see it happen, most people invest based on biases and since most investing is done by men, it makes sense that most investments in start-ups to date have been male backed CEO’s.
Fred and Rachel have a good interview on the subject and Fred blurts out – If you start a Company, you get to be CEO. In my world, if you start a Company, you than go to Fred.
I am not sure whether a high school fund or a woman’s Internet Fund will happen first, but both WILL happen to lengthen this bull market in the internet.
It is all about role models and mentors. We must leverage the networks we have quickly built in the web space and speed the process up.

IN canada kids have been shipped off to play hockey at 14. Starting web
businesses sounds a lot easier.
Are you proposing a HS fund for apps/ games/ , with the teams being rolled up with traction and users ?
or actual angel / LLC creation for each HS team ?
would parents’ consent/ agreement for those HS kids below 18 be mandatory ?
