Lifelock and Wallstrip

You may have noticed that I am investor in Lifelock. If not…I am!

If you have not noticed the Lifelock link on Wallstrip – go look more closely :) . Lifelock is a wicked good product and invaluable service (hopefully you won’t need their full service).

I suck at explaining things so here is what the smart dudes at the company say about Lifelock:

LifeLock is the nation’s first and only ID Theft Prevention Company that maintains active fraud alerts with the three major credit bureaus as well as ChexSystems. The LifeLock system makes personal information useless to everyone but the rightful owner. Each time someone attempts to open credit, change an address, or make changes to bank accounts, LifeLock is there to ensure the right person is making the request. Also unique to other products on the market, LifeLock removes a member’s name from solicitation lists and junk mail, eliminating a primary target of ID thieves – the pre-approved credit offer. The LifeLock system is backed by a one million dollar guarantee to completely fix any problems if a client is ever compromised.

Pretty simple. Even simpler – Get 10 percent off using WALLSTRIP as a code upon signing up or just click through from the Wallstrip site. Takes a couple minutes and $9/month and you are safe from the nightmare of identity theft. It’s a great deal.

Rush Limbaugh yes. I think a bunch of radio spots as well.

I have been hearing that from everywhere so it must be the case.

    Spending my money :)

Are they running radio ads in the L.A. market? I thought I heard one yesterday (on my way to the apple store.)

I actually worked at Experian who runs a product that is similar to Lifelock. It’s basically a credit monitoring service but where I think Lifelock has done a great job is the angle of identity theft protection. They also beefed it up with all the other identity related items (junk mail protection, etc). Seeing the success of Experian’s credit monitoring service, I’m sure if Lifelock gets even 10% of their membership base, they’ll have a winner on their hands. Good investment Howard!

    Howard,
Love this ad-unit running on their homepage…very powerful!

    My name is Todd Davis
This is my social security number 457-55-5462

“I’m Todd Davis, CEO of LifeLock. Yes, that really is my social security number. No I’m not crazy. I’m just sure our system works. Just like we have with mine, LifeLock will make your personal information useless to a criminal. And it’s GUARANTEED.”
Here at LifeLock, We Guarantee Your Good Name.
No one else does because no one else can.

A few questions about lifelock…If Todd Davis really trusts in his product, why does he give a real SSN but not his real DOB when on television? The link to the video where he gives a bogus DOB is found on his own website.

By the way, Todd also has BAD credit that would prevent anyone from opening an account anyway.

Claims of a million dollar guarantee are great, but does the company have a million dollars in assetts and how can this be verified?

What state is Lifelock incorporated in?

Todd’s claims about his previous employment are far reaching. He has had several companies go under and has been involved in extensive litigation regarding his business dealings. Dell computer denies his employment claim stating that Todd was a sale rep and nothing more.

    David –

Bad Credit is somehhing millions of americnabs have and for reasons that are mundane.

Todd and the company passed due diligence fro strong venture capitalists. Past history was not the key factor in the end or Bessemer would have passewd

With 4.5 million in the bank and strong cash flow, yes they have money to pay claims
