Mother of God…The Web is Dead…Episode One with Chris Dixon

Is the Web Dead?

As Billy Crystal says in one of my Top FIVE Favorite Comedy’s…’It’s only Mostly Dead’ (which means it’s slightly alive…and you should look for loose change):

awesome interview howard, as usual – thx for this. thought it was interesting to see $BAC’s chart going back a decade, just looking at it really hits home.

i think the title of that wired article, calling the web “dead”, was done more for publicity purposes though than what the main thesis really is. the web’s growing tremendously and not dieing anytime soon, but it’s definitely losing its share of the network pie – the article did a good job in highlighting that i think. also interesting to remember that marc andreessen was (or still is) working on rockmelt, the facebook browser, so he’s betting on it. parts of the internet are getting less web-like and more quantum-like.

semantic web nerds have been twiddling their thumbs for the past 5yrs. i think the semantic web will be truly realized within facebook, and ironically not via the world wide web.

What other Comedy flix round out the top 5?

I’ve said this before, but the thing I love about VC guys and angels is that they keep a realistic positive outlook (continuing to invest) despite macro-conditions that indicate things are awful (late ’08 through early ’09).
And yes, i would feel much more comfortable investing with a stock pile of ammo, canned food, and oil too.

If this Twitter trailer became a movie, I'm sure you would find it in your top 5. Probably knock out caddyshack…
