I did try and short some Russia (TRF) and India today and had trouble locating stock. As I feel comfortable going long the emerging country rather than an emerging stock, so to do I feel so on the short side – especially since I rarely short.
They have no options either. I am bummed as I see the bids disappear today and could not take advantage.
I’ve heard some others complain about lack of shares to borrow with lots of ETFs. That’s certainly frustrating since they’re supposed to be such a great vehicle for shorting.
