Panic with Friends – Investing for Profit and Joy
I’m excited to be doing this first episode in a series of shows over the next few months on blockchain, crypto, web3 – whatever you want to call it. As long-time listeners know, I like to draft behind smart people on web3 as I learn. At Social Leverage we just started making new investments in the Web 3/crypto sector.
As a fast follower, I like to leave it to people like Fred Wilson, and Chris Dixon and my friends at 6th Man Ventures and Multicoin and my guests today; Sami Issa and Maggie Love, co-founders of W3BCLOUD.
I haven’t talked/writtenm often about it, in full disclosure, Social Leverage Acquisition Corp ($SLAC), the company I’m CEO of, has announced a proposed merger with W3BCLOUD. In addition, Social Leverage (Fund IV) (where I’m a GP) is a shareholder and member of the sponsor group.
This current bear market should serve as a catalyst for a next stage of growth in the sector.
The bear market is shaking beliefs, bringing down valuations, and leveling expectations. It will force people to think clearly about business models. While this is happening, more infrastructure is necessary and going to be built.
All the hard work that had to be done behind the scenes, and continues to get done, has me excited. Building the infrastructure and onboarding people to web3, are where Sami and Maggie come in with their company, W3BCloud, powering web3 so that “a thousand blockchains bloom”.
