Shameless 2.0 in record speed…but not all bad.

The web 2.0 seems to be disintegrating fast.

Maybe we are not meant or destined to have what we really need.

There are so many signs of brilliance that fade into a cesspool of greed.

Nerdville (my Nerds Alley blogroll) has set records in speed to cesspool. Hate and senseless comments, useless, boring, irrelevant ads and copycat business models are surfacing at record speeds.

Was it not just a year ago that TechCrunch was cool. It has sped at record speed to a noisy, sloppy mess. I still want the tidbits of wisdom, but they are so hidden amongst a pile of CRAP that I could scream. I just did. It is no longer worth it to even check in weekly like I have started to do. The good stuff is getting to hard to find amongst the conflicts.

Om Malik is still pretty great, but I am pretty much giving up on the rest of “Nerds Alley” and will just remove or refill that blogroll.

I trust my friend and partner Dominic over at The Blogging Times to filter out most of the crap and just give me some cleaner, less opinionated information (a model which is not paying bills so kudos to TechCrunch). I can form my own opinions in this space. I will miss a lot of “breaking news”, but it is no longer fun to read, the noise has become deafening and the conversation – absolutely inbread and mean. The true benefit of comment surfing at Nerd sites these days is to fade them and I would just rather trend follow to be honest.

What a bummer.

Good news though – Stock bloggers are completely unrecognized and truly of a different breed. Sure there are some ads, but there are so many smart writers that WANT to make you money, share ideas and learn that you have to cut them some slack. I do.

My market resource blogroll just keeps getting deeper and better after 12 months and I have not had to, or even felt like, kicking anybody off . I have 20 blogs that I need to add. I hope we as a unit can keep our integrity. History does not look good, but TRENDS END!

I never knew what web 2.0 was supposed to be anyway. Just a warm fuzzy of tagging and making your own webpages? The highest quality will always come from funded for-profit sources. That’s why wallstrip wasn’t just “howard on a webcam” right? ;)

Howard – it’s so clear to me and I’ve been bitching about it for nine months.

Web 2 is a set of features – technologies that are not defensible married to no monetization strategy and sent flying into the air looking for a home at Google. It’s almost a joke. I’m so sick of it that I’m going to post about it today to get it off my chest.

PS – I hope you weren’t counting on getting “crunched” on your upcoming calendar, sticky note, to do list, music mashup, trail blazing, free storage, video downloaderdizer, start page site that was going to be all the rage…
