Stocktwits 2010

It is amazing to have witnessed the growth in trading/investing ideas and links being passed around tagged with $ and $$.

Welcome to a fresh start to 2010. For money managers, the slate is clean. We can go back to underperforming the monkeys and indexes (I did in 2009).

In the money business, dwelling will kill you. ‘I dwell therefore I fall behind’ (Howard Lindzon, 2010).

You MUST focus on opportunities. Managing the opportunities is of course the holy grail, but from my perspective, the more you see, the better off you are. That is of course the reason for Stocktwits. Twitter has proven that real-time matters and Stocktwits is proving it further within a niche. I think the true power of Twitter and Stocktwits is you get more the more you put in. Microblogging has definitely sped up the size of active idea generators/contributors. Stocktwits is simple to learn. You can become proficient in the first day.

I believe that realtime search with realtime filters is the genius of 2010. Customers want not only the most recent information but the most relevant and authoritative as well. Twitter Lists are one of the new ways speeding up the filtering and discovery process and we have built some wide and deep Stocktwits suggested lists for the markets .

We have a lot of cool stuff slated for release in January, including some major feature updates to the Stocktwits website and Chart.ly and even some new products. The blackberry app is almost complete as well.

This weekend we launched a second daily email called ‘Technical Knockout’. You can sign up for it here . We are crowdsourcing the best and most liked community technical investing/trading ideas and will deliver them to your morning inbox.

We have been listening to the amazing ideas coming in to help make Stocktwits better. Please keep them coming.

Keep up great work and please rank traders…would be awesome to see who is the best vs. the worst and so we don’t get random stuff like “Bought FAZ at xxxx”

PS To all those who rip on penny stocks, the best performing stock of 2009 was a pink sheet listed stock and briefing.com missed it in their big list…stock racism ain’t the future, would be cool if ST had a pink sheets/otcbb section…can’t afford to miss covering the single best performing stock in america

Tim, I agree 100%. Howard, Phil and I have debated this very point for a year now. We all know the OTC and PINKS have their share of scams in them – but the fact of the matter is there are some amazing companies there (such as some of the Chinese companies I made a bundle on) that investors should not ignore.

You and I need to team up on this and partner with ST.

      Thoughts? Howard?

“from my perspective, the more you see, the better off you are.”

We can debate this point, because we’ve all experienced and understand the web age problem of information overload. I love seeing all the Stocktwits & Twitter streams have to offer, but filtering that information in a way that’s relevant to your needs is key. I’m sure you’d agree on this point.

You’re right: microblogging has definitely sped up idea generation & communities like Stocktwits seem to encourage that sharing of ideas. Still trying to wrap my head around the shift to community & collaborative trading; this used to be a very individualized (and rather secretive) endeavor!

    Keep rocking with Stocktwits, Howard.

    • The secretive stuff is definitely important for the purists but can’t please everyone. They still benefot from the stream.

Automation and curation are the key.

All the filtering tools are already at yor fingertips

Keep up the great work. I’m looking forward to upgrades at Chart.ly. Love the site. I’m using StockTwits Desktop as a research tool more than a Twitter client these days. It’s an awesome real-time research platform. Charts, news and trader commentary in one pipe.

    Good stuff. Keep it coming.

    The Holy Grail to Investing.

The ultimate business solution. The ability to cut the cost of any business expense, or just plain invest.

Developed multiple arbitrages for the financial markets. Arbitrages that produce just a few percent a year, to arbitrages that produce over 30 percent a year.

In 2001 i started developing, as of now, a dozen arbitrages. Over 30%/yr.

Risk-Free Investing is not only possible, but in abundance. Just that people are told and taught that it is impossible. No risk has been in front of all, but not seen.

I’m interested in selling, or partnering to sell, or partner in a business that uses my arbitrage.

I hope one of the Chart.ly improvements is ability to post via email. I could drop twitpic

Would like ability to post message outside of stocktwits stream (just to twitter)

Ability to form a small instant private tribe

    Voice

    Desktop sharing

Those are my stocktwit wishes for 2010..
