The $1.6 Billion Google/YouTube Question Revisited…ad nauseum

With the disclosure of YouTube’s $15 million in 2006 revenue, the media is having a field day with the overpay/underpay question.

It is not really that complicated, YouTube has AUDIENCE. Google can go pluck talent from the global playing field and lure them to YouTube with that audience as the carrot. Even when the ‘best of’ talent finds fame and moves beyond YouTube, Google will have succeeded thousands of times over monetizing the launches.

If the audience disappears, $40 was too much to pay.

I agree with Henry Blodgett who was interviewed for the New York Times DealBook (my fave part of the NY Times) .
