The big bad on-line video trend – tough to say something so new is old?

Trader Mike (of all people :) ) just sent me a great link to a new Video site. I love this post on the brief history of on-line video . Holy shit Batman, have things moved fast.

The million dollar question, is who will make the dinero. Much argument and debate occur daily in the blogosphere. The smart money is just blitzkrieging the board because the stakes are so high.

It is pretty damn exciting despite the crap content that exists.

My friend Adam Eland is posting very often and smartly on the subject. He is on my blogroll. I hang with him in New York and I don’t understand half of what he says, but some smart people say he gets it. Who am I to argue. This is his latest post on monetization ideas which I really like . The Paris Hilton photo (please click to enlarge – is just an added freebie :) ). Classic!

Go Adam.

I’m still really interested in Revver, they seem to be taking a niche approach as opposed to YouTube’s “get everyone” approach. Revver control uploaded content far more than YT – If they use this control link the best vloggers up to interested advertisers, the vloggers are happy (money!) and the advertisers are happy (known quality). They dont have to be huge if they attract the best quality.

But I still have no idea what Sony think they are doing with Grouper.

Thanks for reading. That timeline (a work in progress really) was fun to make.

I dig Revver too, although the last time I played around with the service is was still to complicated — upload tool was awkward, took too long for videos to show up on the site, etc. I hear they’ve gotten better since, so I’ll check em out again.
